“Not everyone can do everything, but everyone can do something”
Ladies, please join us August 22nd for a Sole Hope party!
What it is: Sole Hope is an organization dedicated to offering hope and healthier lives to people in Uganda. Specifically, Sole Hope creates jobs for shoemakers and tailors, while also providing shoes for Ugandan children to prevent jiggers (parasitic sand fleas which embed themselves in bare feet and cause serious infections, often leading to amputation).
What we will be doing: We have the opportunity to supply the shoemakers and tailors with materials to make shoes. Basically, we will sit around at tables and on the floor, talking, laughing, and cutting up materials!
When you come to the party, please bring:
-Blue jeans: August is the perfect time to clean out your winter wardrobe and collect some denim! You can also purchase a very cheap pair from Goodwill.
-Plastic: items such as milk jugs, thin plastic folders, laundry detergent bottles, 2 liter soda bottles, etc.
-Large Safety pins
-Black sharpie marker
-A 10.00 donation to cover the cost of shipping (if you can’t make the donation, please come anyway).
Additionally, if you feel led, Sole Hope is also looking for foot washing and jigger removal supplies. These would include large safety pins, stickers for the children, surgical gloves, cotton balls, medical tape, antibiotic cream, gauze, and band-aids. If anyone would like to bring some of these items, we will include them in the shipment of shoe materials.
Where: The Shanahan home – time yet to be determined!
