FIVE THINGS 2024

We asked MPC folks to tells us 5 Things you loved about 2024 or are thankful for in 2024. A memory, a product, a movie, a song, an album, a book, a game, an experience, a trip, a person, a lesson learned, whatever. It doesn't need to be overtly spiritual, but certainly can be. If your answer needs a little explanation, please give one. Here are the results

Teresa Goering

  1. A husband that diligently leads his family

  2. Bring part of a new church plant in Salina

  3. Meeting new friends in Christ

  4. Opportunity to share my home with grandchildren

  5. Flourishing Family book, bringing Family into focus.

Laura Hough

  1. Eileen's Cookies: I really love that they are affordable and yummy and I didn't have to make them.

  2. Board games. My favorite winter family activity. We love Cover your Assets and they came out with a new version: Cover your Kingdom.

  3. Battery powered heat. I just bought a heated vest. I have high hopes for this helping me to dislike winter less.

  4. Headlamps. So many uses. An under-rated and under-appreciated device.

  5. Sex Club. (Fun way of saying Women’s Study on Sex and Intimacy) Such a fun adventure with such amazing ladies!

Annie Renz

  1. Our blessed baby Juliet arriving in March 2024! (That could really be all 5 and the rest of my list doesn’t even compare!!)

  2. Chiefs Super Bowl win

  3. Nov🇺🇸mber

  4. That Shaboozey song was pretty catchy.

  5. Nicola made me a cinnamon roll casserole for me postpartum and I think about it often.

Erin Stuver

  1. Wild sunflowers

  2. Seeing trials bear fruit

  3. Sharing my son’s curiosity

  5. A fruitful garden

SadiePiper Hough

  1. Went to 3 concerts this year- 21 pilots, Olivia Rodrigo and Gracie Abrams

  2. Going to swim state- even though I didn’t swim it was fun to stay at the hotel and go to the KC mall with the girls.

  3. K-State women’s basketball- got to watch them in KC for Big 12 tourney and march madness and their season just started up again and they’re super fun the watch!

  4. Touring The Star- it’s the Dallas Cowboys training facility and it was super cool!

  5. Watching the NY Liberty win the WNBA championship

Krisitin Benoit

  1. Celebrating ten years of marriage with Mike in Florida

  2. Deeper friendships at church and PTO'

  3. Family trips to Colorado and Maine

  4. The Thai place in Topeka and the sweet friends I brought there every week

  5. And most of all — welcoming Meredith safely into the world.

Jenna Fiscus (Future Mrs. Sawyer)

Brian Hough(I’m not a good counter)

  1. Kindle e-readers: Distraction free reading, I determine the font size, it glows in the dark, my finger is a highlighter, it fits in my pocket and weighs 200 grams no matter how huge the paper version is.

  2. Zelda Echoes of Wisdom: It's a new and delightfully nostalgia inducing Nintendo game.

  3. I can't recommend it (not reformed, more mystical and charismatic than I'm comfortable with) but parts of Practicing The Way by John Mark Comer was challenging in a really good way.

  4. Family Traditions: Lake Michigan & Bentonville Vacations

  5. Season tickets to K-State Women's Basketball

  6. Jeremy coming on staff this year

  7. The wonder that God hears and listens when I pray

  8. Friends: Particularly open and honest friends that equally comfort and challenge.

  9. Walking: I'm still learning to do it when life feels too busy to use time this way, but it's refreshing.

Peggy Kothmann

  1. 12024 was the year of weddings for the Kothmanns. We had 5 weddings we had the privilege of attending/supporting. It's always fun to spend time with friends and family as we celebrate (and enjoy good food & drink).

  2. Caleb & I get to celebrate both of our parents' 40th wedding anniversaries in the next 3 months. Thankful for 2 marriages that we get to look up to.

  3. I got to spend over 2 weeks in Italy with my mom this summer. I enjoyed traveling with her and spending Mother/Daughter time that we don't get very often. Thankful for a job that allowed me to take so much time off at once.

  4. I'm learning to crochet with one of those beginner kits! My sister-in-law is also a fabulous crocheter/knitter, so this offers a shared hobby between the 2 of us.

  5. I am very thankful for MPC friends and community. Just to name a few high points... got my first dose of Fantasy Football this year, experienced Christian Cards Against Humanity for the first time, and a continually expansion of my vocabulary thanks to your children.
